This cake is close to my heart as it was for my dad’s 60th. He’s always loved motorbikes & Harley’s so I decided on a scale version of a Harley Sportster fuel tank, a Sportster because the very first Sportster was released in 1957. My dad is a precision engineer so getting everything the right size was very important! (he is the reason my cakes are as close to perfect as I can make them!). The scale was 1:1.4 and the violin was done to the same scale. Many years ago dad made & painted racing bicycle frames and his paint jobs were amazing! He knows his way around airbrush better than me but I wanted to make him proud with a metallic purple ombre paint job. He has done a great job teaching himself violin and has made parts for electric violins so a stylised violin was a perfect addition. A couple of other references to things he loves and the cake was finished. Happy Birthday Dad!
